Re: Facebook doesn't display thread images - 13 years ago
By "attachment" do you mean an image that has been attached as a file using this Phorum tool? If so, Facebook's parser won't find it, it is looking for either <img> tags, or it is looking for an image identified by the meta property og:image.by Phil Connolly - Phorum Support

OK, totally random free-form thoughts from a developer perspective: Although I am not huge fan of MVC, a platform like Phorum would actually greatly benefit from it. I would agree with your other post that Phorum could go in that direction (maybe I would elevate "could" to "should"). With more investment in MVC, I would do away with the silly template language and justby Phil Connolly - Announcements
Re: post URL links in facebook - 13 years ago
What's happening is that the extra arguments Facebook is adding (in your attachment, the stuff in the URL starting at the &fb_action_ids=10151337719510579.....) is not being handled by Phorum's core. There is logic in the core that looks for an ampersand, and if it is found, then Phorum switches to use that to delimit query string arguments instead of commas. Re: Sharing (in facebook etc) option, and 'like' option - 14 years ago
Facebook started requiring OAuth 2.0 at some point for authentication and authorization. I never got around to migrating my module SSO code to implement OAuth 2. It actually is not too difficult for me to change this, and I am looking at it now. I have it running on my test site, I'll update the zip archive soon. I don't really offer support for this module, so my "support"by Phil Connolly - Phorum Hack/Mod Requests

Quotegresakg However, there's still one question: how to access the return of the hook function? Do I understand well, that it is not accessible inside the template scope? Re: Hooks in templates - 14 years ago
I thought I would jump in and answer this one, as I once had a very similar question back when I first started using Phorum. I got a great answer back, but didn't really fully understand until I had written a few modules and then some things clicked. Re: Phorum page weight and PHP's memory_get_peak_usage() - 14 years ago
I know this isn't about your specific questions, but I was wondering: What is your php's memory_limit? It would seem that you are getting OOM's when you have a script exceeding this. IMO, this is not related to what you have observed from calling memory_get_peak_usage() and from using unset() all over the place in your code. Re: Parse BBCode in Profiles - 15 years ago
In addition to what Maurice says, my hack really is specific to signatures. It depends on the existing Phorum signature processing that results in the signature being appended to the message body prior to Phorum's format hook. That is why there is no code in the hack to format BBcode, yet your signature gets formatted. As far is displaying the BBcode editor tools: I don't think myby Phil Connolly - Phorum Support

Re: Module: Facebook URL Fixer - 15 years ago
Wierd... so I traced through Phorum code, and also hooked up fiddler and watched what was happening between my browser and the server. When redirect_after_post = 'read', I can see Phorum is trying to do what you want, jump to the last message of the thread, and its full URL contains an anchor (#). Re: post URL links in facebook - 15 years ago
Well, your test post just confirms that Facebook is not reaching the post properly via its URL. Their URL Linter reports a title "Cats lost in South Australia" instead of "This is just a test", meaning Facebook is parsing your forum list page (http://perfectpetfinder.com.au/lostandfound/list.php?5) because, no surprise if you followed this whole thread, Facebook can't haby Phil Connolly - Phorum Support
Re: post URL links in facebook - 15 years ago
I've had success using the OG properties, as well as having Facebook just read the content in my pages (which it does in the absence of relevant OG properties). But in all cases within Phorum, for me it requires the Facebook URL Fixer module, and public permissions for the message read page. That second requirement has got me a few times... a page that is behind any security will not workby Phil Connolly - Phorum Support
Re: post URL links in facebook - 15 years ago
Hi Aaron, If you have confirmed that the generated HTML returned by Phorum contains what you are expecting, i.e., you can see it, then the problem is on the Facebook side. They are not reading the same page as the one with your like button. There is discussion about this at the beginning of this thread where people report Facebook is mangling Phorum URLs, which based on your description of tby Phil Connolly - Phorum Support
Re: post URL links in facebook - 15 years ago
What exactly isn't working? The og:description property is parsed by facebook, so if you have it populated, it should work. The og:image question is kinda outside of the scope of this thread, so maybe it would be better to start another one where you ask how to get a reference to a user's uploaded images into Phorum variables that you can use in your header templates.by Phil Connolly - Phorum Support

Thanks for the reports. I can't say when exactly I'll be able to address them, but I will when I can. Well, as for SSO, Maurice tackled that in a module for Phorum 5.3, and his is not limited to facebook. So I think the future looks good as far as that goes, and I am not sure I will need to be supporting mine once 5.3 is released. Re: Sharing (in facebook etc) option, and 'like' option - 15 years ago
BTW, posting to the facebook wall requires the facebook user to give permissions. The facebook module could very easily just assume the right and do it by default. Re: Sharing (in facebook etc) option, and 'like' option - 15 years ago
I modified the core facebook module to support a new hook (mod_facebook_sso_username) which allows for overriding the default email address as username. Then I added a new extension module (just a simple single file module facebook_sso_display_name.php) to the archive. Try it out, re-download the zip file, update the facebook module, and add the new facebook_sso_display_name.php to your mods foby Phil Connolly - Phorum Hack/Mod Requests
Re: Sharing (in facebook etc) option, and 'like' option - 15 years ago
Thanks for the nice feedback. It would not be terribly difficult to change what the module is doing when it chooses a phorum username. The rationale for it to use an email address was mostly laziness... an email address returned from facebook's API is likely a valid one and I didn't have to code too defensively while relying on it.
