I moved my installation to a new server of basically the same configuration (php 5.5.30) and this module is not working. Change Admin URL - 10 years ago
I've dug around and can't find the answer, though I'm guessing it's hiding in plain site. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've set up http/2 support for my site. Updating the main URL from to worked fine for everything (so far) except for the admin area which insists on referencing "http" addresses. As a result I am getting a browser warning and theby Jim O - Phorum Support
Re: Quote issue with symbols - 15 years ago
QuoteThomas Seifert Yeah, the latter and that will only be addressed in 5.3 to have sane email formatting. Just skipping removal is insecure. There is a module to do that though ... . Insecure for HTML based email clients? I don't allow HTML in the forum. In any event, that module solved that issue and I do really appreciate your help Thomas.by Jim O - Phorum Support
Re: Quote issue with symbols - 15 years ago
I was a bit premature. While the quote function now appears to work properly, these elements are stripped from the outgoing emails. I don't know if that's from the mailing list module itself or from the functions in format_functions.php that are called, but I suspect the latter.by Jim O - Phorum Support

Re: Quote issue with symbols - 15 years ago
QuoteThomas Seifert To me it looks like its interpreted as html and removed on email import. It seems to have nothing to do with quoting itself as far as I can see. This is not the case. Post #2 (first reply by Igor Sysoev) came via email and was properly imported. Post #3 (second reply by user Dayo) was quoted and posted at the forum and contained the error. Thank you for the response Thomas. include/db/config.php: // Specifies the charset used for the "CREATE TABLE" statements and // the connection later on. Re: Quote issue with symbols - 15 years ago
I should point out that we do not use "QUOTE" tags because we want our responses to be formatted more like that of a mailing list. Hence we use the alternative system which looks more like text based mail.by Jim O - Phorum Support
Quote issue with symbols - 15 years ago
Hello, We are using Phorum as a two way communication with a mailing list. Occasionally posts contain the less than (<) or greater than (>) symbols. These render fine in the forum itself, but when they are quoted, they disappear. It seems that Phorum uses the correct charset entities for these symbols - "<" for less than and ">" for greater than in thby Jim O - Phorum Support
Re: Phorum-5.2.15 - PHP issues - 16 years ago
Clearing /tmp of all Phorum related files cleared the issue. Could this be a FreeBSD issue? In the past I had run Phorum on Linux 2.6.x and never had this issue arise with upgrading.by Jim O - Phorum Support
Re: Phorum-5.2.15 - PHP issues - 16 years ago
QuoteThomas Seifert weird. the error message from above tells that php crashed somehow so I would expect some error message there. Did you try to clear the phorum cache before/after the upgrade? Another try could be to enable the event logging module and see if anything shows up in there for the error message. Currently its all foggy, no idea where that crash could come from without a real erby Jim O - Phorum Support
Re: Phorum-5.2.15 - PHP issues - 16 years ago
Hi Thomas, The PHP error log is routed to the nginx error log and there are no entries. I do frequently see the following type of entry in the nginx error log: Quote2010/03/17 00:38:28 14431#0: *6462871 FastCGI sent in stderr: "PHP Warning: htmlspecialchars() [<a href='function.htmlspecialchars'>function.htmlspecialchars</a>]: Invalid multibyte sequence in argumby Jim O - Phorum Support

Re: Module: External Phorummail - 17 years ago
QuoteJakeStew Thanks guys! I got it working! This is an awesome mod! It's by far the most important mod for me at the moment, and the reason I switched from phpBB to Phorum. I have a couple feature requests that hopefully are pretty simple... #1 Stripping the "Re:" from the subject line. I have a number of topics starting with "Re:". Re: Module: External Phorummail - 17 years ago
Thomas, We are running into an issue with attachments. The biggest issue is that some text attachments are being displayed inline, and not as attachments. This might not be a big issue ordinarily, but we ran into a problem when a posted patch failed because of this. See - the fourth post in the thread - for this case. Copying and pasting the inline patch failed, but using the attachment tby Jim O - v5/v6 Modules/Add-Ons

If that does not work, with cPanel you may be able to use: cd /home/obioorg1/public_html/forums && php ./script.php --scheduled If not, try: cd /home/obioorg1/public_html/forums && /usr/local/bin/php ./script.php --scheduledby Jim O - v5/v6 Modules/Add-Ons
Feature Request - 17 years ago
I came across something that had not happened before in several thousand messages imported using this mod and its predecessor. Someone used the word "file" in an email. This, of course was parsed as "file" and then everything following it was strikethrough. Since we rarely, if ever, use that text style it isn't a huge issue. I simply disabled that BBcode and all was weby Jim O - v5/v6 Modules/Add-Ons
Re: Disable recording of IPs Good Idea? - 17 years ago
QuoteMaurice Makaay I know from Thomas that for example in Germany, one really has to log IP-addresses, because otherwise you will be liable yourself for any criminal activity on your website. Things might be different in the USA, but just be careful. IP logging is only required in the US if you are specifically required to log IP's by the authorities, say with a search warrant. Re: Module: External Phorummail - 17 years ago
OK, based on my preliminary testing, email with "Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" is properly imported. Obviously this is based on only a few tests and was not thorough by any means but it does look good. Thank you once again Thomas. :)by Jim O - v5/v6 Modules/Add-Ons
Re: Module: External Phorummail - 17 years ago
I was using the previous mod that you gave me a great of help getting to work properly. Some advantages of this new mod include recognizing non-English characters when the email is encoded using "ISO-8859-1" and some other non "utf-8" charsets, which was giving us some troubles. It also recognizes Chinese characters in "Sender" field which had been in an issue. Thby Jim O - v5/v6 Modules/Add-Ons

Re: Module Request - Soft Delete - 17 years ago
QuoteMaurice Makaay The quickest solution for this, without having to code anything: remove the delete links from the template and just provide the hide functionality in there. Possibly name it "delete" so it feels like deleting messages when doing so. These messages will then be put in a disapproved status. From there, messages can be deleted. Re: New messages problem with Memcache - 17 years ago
I am having the same issue. It's pretty clearly an issue where the cache is not being flushed when a new post is made. Flushing the cache manually fixes the problem each time it happens and setting "Enable Caching Message" to "No" prevents it from happening entirely. Module Request - Soft Delete - 17 years ago
This is available in at least one other forum package where the admin can set who can and who cannot physically remove a post from the database. If a post is soft-deleted it is invisible but not gone. It prevents a rogue moderator who went off his meds from deleting hundreds of posts before he's stopped. Re: Module: POP3 Phorummail - 17 years ago
QuoteThomas Seifert Jim, which charset are you using and do you have a chance to check the charset he is sending at? It looks to me like some charset problem and I had problems with that previously. I think its even a problem of the pear module with utf8 data. He is using ISO-8859-1. We are using UTF-8.by Jim O - v5/v6 Modules/Add-Ons
Re: Module: POP3 Phorummail - 17 years ago
I'm running into an issue with using this module. There's a user on the list whose name is Jérôme. His name is being cut to "J" and sometimes some of his text is being truncated as well. For now my workaround has been to edit the posts myself, either directly or in the db, but that's not a long term solution.
