Re: Phorum 5.2 and php7 - 6 years ago
I think I have fixed the badwords.php problems 1) The count() warning I received for an empty bad words list was solved by Scott Finegan's suggestion: replace if(count($bad_words)){ on or about line 157 with if(!empty($bad_words)){ 2) The 'Censor List' problem described by Steve Healy above was solved by changing the line echo " <td class=\"&qby jbaker - Phorum Support
Re: Phorum 5.2 and php7 - 6 years ago
The bad words problem has two problems. One is listed above (undefined "string" constant) in Steve Healy's earlier post. However, if the bad words list is empty, it gives a countable error similar to the $_help problem in my previous post. I have to play with these.by jbaker - Phorum Support
Re: Phorum 5.2 and php7 - 6 years ago
I modified include/admin/PhpInputForm.php line 40 from: var $_help; to var $_help = array(); /*Added to get rid of php7 warning*/ This seems to fix the warning and help tips seem to be added normally when I run the various functions. This is consistent with the warning, as count() now seems to require an explicitly defined countable element rather than inferring the type from an undeby jbaker - Phorum Support

1) Aren't HTML comments <!-- --> instead of // ? This line is not within the <?php .... ?> code. 2) When running admin-> edit users I received the following error: "Warning: count(): Parameter must be an array or an object that implements Countable in /home/wlyanceu/public_html/phorum5/include/admin/PhorumInputForm.php on line 213" This is a class defby jbaker - Phorum Support
Re: Phorum 5.2 and php7 - 6 years ago
Is anyone working on updating Phorum so it works cleanly with php 7? I have been using phorum since the early 2000's and have kept up-to-date whenever possible. My hosting server just went to php 7. While the basic functionality seems ok, I have started seeing warnings. As php continues to evolve, this probably will get worse.by jbaker - Phorum Support

A search showed that this may also effect: mods\spamhurdles\captcha\class.banner.php include\api\json-pear.php include\admin\PhorumInputForm.php include\admin\PhorumAdminMenu.php Other class definitions don't seem to have a specific constructor. Newest version of php has new class constructor rules - 8 years ago
I was changing my website's hosting service to one that was using a later version of PHP. It threw warnings for the \mods\spamhurdles\include\crypt\aes,php and rijndael.php files. Evidently the old practice of naming the constructor the same as the class is being deprecated. I fixed these by changing the constructor names to __construct in both cases. mysql_ deprecation in PHP 5.4 - 15 years ago
I am using Phorum 5.2.16 on a MySQL installation. I have been seeing comments on the coming deprecation of mysql_ functions in favor of mysqli_ and PDO in PHP 5.4. I was searching my code base for places which might need to be changed. I found several mysql_ functions in phorum\include\db\mysql\mysql.php Does this need to be modified if they deprecate mysql_ in the next PHP version?by jbaker - Phorum Support
Strange CAPTCHA problem - 15 years ago
I recently upgraded my phorum installation to 5.2.16. Most things seemed to go smoothly, but a new user reported that he was having trouble registering. I had Spam Hurdles (version 2.0.2) enabled with the "Code drawn using a .gif Image" option set. When I tried to create a test Id, the image shown in the CAPTCHA block was first blank and then had the bottom cut off. I saw this in bothby jbaker - Phorum Support
Re: Delete - stay on page - 16 years ago
I tried implementing the Go To Topic module and was unable to get it to work. It was easy enough to upload and turn on the module, but the instructions for where/how to update the templates were inadequate. I tried to put the GoToTopic from the Readme into several places, but nothing I did changed what I saw when I used the forum. It needs a concrete example of where to put the link.by jbaker - Phorum Hack/Mod Requests
Delete - stay on page - 16 years ago
I have been trying to get rid of older non-relevant posts. Unfortunately, there is no generic criteria for this, and it requires a review of the topic (so I can't use the mass deletions available in the admin). Unfortunately, whenever I delete a topic, the only option listed after confirmation is "return to the message list" which takes me back to the beginning of the message list.by jbaker - Phorum Hack/Mod Requests

I found a place to do that function down in the admin/database integrity area. It works now. Thanks.by jbaker - Phorum Support

strange error message in admin - 16 years ago
I just converted my phorum from 3.4.8 to 5.2.14. Most of the conversion went surprisingly well (although I suggest adding an entry to the phorum3to5convert.php to make sure in addition to deleting messages and forums, any users that were created in the newly installed phorum5 are renamed/deleted so they don't conflict with users in the old database - the first time I tried this, it stopped wby jbaker - Phorum Support
