Re: Phorum 5.2 and php7 - 6 years ago
My server just got updated tonight to PHP 7 and all I can see is the header. Everything after that is gone! My entire site is built on phorum so it's a major issue. Anyone having any luck getting things running with PHP7?by pulloff - Phorum Support
Re: Phorumstrap v1.0.1.5 Theme - 10 years ago
The screenshots of your template look great, unfortunately the uploaded template doesn't produce the same look. Your folder structure is incorrect or your stylesheet links in header.tpl are incorrect. Also an FYI for people looking to download this, it's currently only coded for flat list view and flat read view, the the threaded and hybrid views are incomplete. Re: Different font color if logged in... - 10 years ago
Scott, thanks for the help and the quick response. I actually got it working before I read your post using the same technique: {IF LOGGEDIN} <div id="phorum" class="loggedin" > {ELSE} <div id="phorum" > {/IF} My Plan-B in my post above actually would have worked if I noticed the extra space in my CSS (I had "#phorum .loggedinby pulloff - Phorum Support
Different font color if logged in... - 10 years ago
I'm trying to do something that seems like it should be simple but I can't quite figure it out. I want the font to be Red if someone is looking at the page and is not logged in. However I'd like the font to change to Black after they login. I was hoping I could do something easy like adding this to the setting.tpl file: {IF LOGGEDIN} {VAR default_font_color "Black"by pulloff - Phorum Support
Re: Resizing of attachments - 10 years ago
This would be a mod I'd love to have as well. While resizing photos may only take me a few seconds, it's a huge stumbling block for the average internet user. Most users want to take photos directly from their phones or camera and simply attach them directly to a post. It's probably one of the most common complaints from users on my site. Re: Phorum 5.3 Proposition - $300 donation - 13 years ago
Has anyone solved the alphabetical sort idea? I'd love to be able to sort posts on the list page of a certain forum alphabetically. I don't need the column header to be clickable with sort options; I just need to have one forum sorted by subject rather than date. If anyone has worked on this or solved this with either a mod or a hack I'd love to know the details.by pulloff - Phorum Development
Email address link on profile pages - 13 years ago
The email link on my profile page has me a little perplexed. Fellow phorum user Scott Finegan noticed the following issue when he was checking out my page earlier this week: when you hover over the email link it shows the address as www.pulloff.com/phorum/jakemorgan@pulloff.com but it should be showing mailto:jakemorgan@pulloff.com, subsequently the email link doesn't work as it should.by pulloff - Phorum Support
Re: 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable - 13 years ago
Thomas, Thanks for the help, I made some changes to the two header files and I also changed some links in a few mods to relative ones. I don't know if these measures will help, but I'm following my server provider's directions to rule out any and all possibilities. Thanks again for the help and the quick reply. 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable - 13 years ago
This issue started for me in June as well. Here is what my server company sent me in reply to the issue: Jake, We've increased the number of concurrent Apache connections allowed, and the site is back up for now. It looks to me like you haven't taken Yuko's advice from earlier, namely, converting the absolute file references on your pages to relative ones. For instance,by pulloff - Phorum Support
Re: Need help moving some PROFILE links to the MESSAGES - 14 years ago
First, thanks for the quick answers and advice, it’s appreciated. Serious web work has mostly been on the backburner since the birth of my daughter. Now that she’s getting a bit of a schedule I thought I’d rehash this issue. Maurice, thanks for the opinion regarding usability. I’ve attached a partial screenshot of my read page to give you an idea of the aesthetic my template has. I think tby pulloff - Phorum Support
Re: Partial body... short_body - 14 years ago
Well, after many hours tinkering here is the solution.... <?php $short_body = mb_substr( $PHORUM["TMP"]["MESSAGES"]["body"], 0, 400, $PHORUM["DATA"]["HCHARSET"]); ?> <?=$short_body;?> or <?php echo substr( $PHORUM["TMP"]["MESSAGES"]["body"], 0, 400); ?> You can put either of theby pulloff - Phorum Support

Partial body... short_body - 14 years ago
I'm trying to put a partial message body on my list page (like the $short_body used on the search function). I made the necessary changes to the settings.tpl file and the list.tpl file and the full body shows up perfectly. So now I need to extract the first 100 bytes from the $body string ($body is a string isn't it?). Here is the unsuccessful code I've put in list.tpl so far:by pulloff - Phorum Support
Re: Phorum Search Integration - 14 years ago
I'm not sure if it's possible, but you might want to consider migrating your entire site into Phorum. Phorum has a module "Static Pages" you could modify the header and footer to suite your needs and you'd have a page that looks seemless with your forum and you'd have everything under one roof.by pulloff - Phorum Integration
Re: Need help moving some PROFILE links to the MESSAGES - 14 years ago
Thomas, Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't know the individual files in the templates generated the links. I guess I just assumed those links would be avaiable everywhere, especially since profile.tpl and read.tpl are in the same directory, shows me what I get for assuming! I'm not sure how to generate those links in raw PHP in the template (or in a module). I try my best toby pulloff - Phorum Support
Need help moving some PROFILE links to the MESSAGES - 14 years ago
I'm trying to add some links to the messages (read.tpl). I know these links are already on the profile page for each user (that's where I got the code), but I'd like to have them appear on each message as well. I'd like to have the following link appear below the user name and avatar: "Private reply to this post" (This one is working fine) "Send a PM"by pulloff - Phorum Support
Re: Module: Banner Manager - 15 years ago
Maurice, Well, I got it to work, but in a hack way that works OK for now. I actually just copied the mod to a new folder… banner_manager_2. I then went through all the files in the new folder (thankfully only 11 files) and did a simple text replacement and changed all instances of “banner_manager” to… “banner_manager_2”. A quick template change and it works like a charm. I’ve wanted to fby pulloff - v5/v6 Modules/Add-Ons
Re: Module: Banner Manager - 15 years ago
I’ve been using this mod for a few years now and I love it. I use it at the top and bottom of my “list” pages and I was wondering if it was possible to make the module show 2 different banners per page? Right now the banners are random, but they same banner at the top and the bottom. I’d like the top banner to be random, and the bottom banner to be random as well but not always the same as theby pulloff - v5/v6 Modules/Add-Ons

Some modules not workin after upgrading to 5.2.16 - 15 years ago
I just upgraded to 5.2.16 and everything seemed great until I tried to send a PM. When I clicked on “PM” on a user profile, I got an error message saying internal server error. I then went to my inbox and tried to reply to an old PM and I got the same error. I tried turning off all the Mods that I’ve downloaded from this site and… hurray! PM works fine. Re: Template: Bitmap World - 16 years ago
First let me say thank you for this template, I think it’s a wonderful layout. Now the bad news… I’ve got a minor formatting issue in threaded view (of course the issue only occurs with IE… Firefox works perfect). I made the layout wider (1024 pixels wide) and it breaks the code of the tables somehow and puts a blank area at the end of the table. Re: Post body length too long error: Can I alter it ? - 16 years ago
Maurice, Thanks as always for the very quick reply. I changed the MAX_MESSAGE_LENGTH variable to 16000000 and still got the "Please fill in message body" error so you were correct; it’s most likely getting truncated somewhere. After that didn’t work I then changed the maximum post size setting in php.ini from 2M to 20M, and I still get the same “Please fill in message body” errorby pulloff - Phorum Support
Re: Post body lenght too long error: Can I alter it ? - 16 years ago
I’m having a similar problem with my phorum. I’m not 100% sure that it’s the message length, but I can’t figure out what else it could be. I have a post on one of my forums that acts as a links page/business directory (http://www.pulloff.com/phorum/read.php?7,288) It’s got 61,719 characters with spaces (there’s some HTML in the body to create the tables). Re: Timer / Flood Control for non-registered users? - 16 years ago
Unfortunately I’m about as effective at writing code as a two-legged dog is in a horse race! I can usually get a pretty good idea what some PHP code is doing when I look at it, but as for writing code myself… No clue on where to start with a Phorum module. As far as blocking a cookie, aren’t most browsers set to accept cookies by default? I’m guessing that the people would have to know thatby pulloff - Phorum Support
Re: Timer / Flood Control for non-registered users? - 16 years ago
I’m still looking to see if someone has written something with a timer or flood control. I already have the “Check for Duplicates” option selected, but it’s too easy for someone to add an exclamation point to a topic and spam a board. I’ve got a fair amount of moderators, but I’ve got one person who really likes to spam a forum. I can quickly prune the messages, but I’d love to be able to seby pulloff - Phorum Support

I apologize in advance, I’m new to this dedicated server environment. I looked for PHP.ini file on my server but I don’t have a clue where to look. I’ll contact my server and see what they can do. As for the number of posts per thread, it probably averages about 12 posts per thread, with my biggest thread being approximately 50 or 60 posts per thread. Thanks for the quick reply… There are 5,571 threads, with 32,758 total posts on that threaded forum. Let me give some quick background… I just moved the site to a new dedicated server. After the move I checked a flat forum and everything seemed fine.
