Re: Module: External Authentication - 17 years ago
Thank you! I will be reviewing those modules as I embark on this adventure. The category system in YACS is one of the features that sold me on the system. Categories are a bit like a Site Map, but the Site Map is based on page location and Categories are based on topic or theme. Each item on the site is connected to one or more categories, with the page location being set in a different field.by Jael - v5/v6 Modules/Add-Ons

Hello Joe, Thanks for the offer. I just saw your reply today; sorry about the delay. I will let you know if I have any success. No rush on this. I've been annoyed at the YACS interface for almost two years now; another month or so isn't a big deal. One aspect I was realising might be a bit of an issue is the way the YACS forum collects forum posts and adds them to the listing inby Jael - v5/v6 Modules/Add-Ons

Hello there, Thanks for creating this module. I am wondering about using this module with YACS (Yet Another Community System). Is anyone already working on a specific plug-in for this CMS? I am happy to begin working on one if no one else is, though I am certainly a noob when it comes to programming. Thanks, Jaelby Jael - v5/v6 Modules/Add-Ons
Re: Which version of embed to go with 5.27 - 18 years ago
Good luck with your other responsibilities. I am looking forward to when you are able to begin work on this again, but I completely understand your time constraints. I have an existing YACS install that I would like to integrate with Phorum. I've been annoyed at the YACS forum for about two years now and I can certainly wait another couple months or so to have a nice, friendly forum in use.by Jael - Phorum Integration
Re: Fresh Install of 5.2.3 problems - 18 years ago
I did just get this problem fixed tonight while in the chat. Thanks again, TallyHo, for your suggestion regarding the server info. It was indeed an error in the config.php file. However, the problem was that I believed my host and entered the server info they provided. After moving the server info back to the default 'localhost', it worked just fine. I am now finishing the setup.by Jael - Phorum Support

That's just there for the purposes of privacy. The ones with dashes were the ones I edited; sorry for the confusion. I should have said: Quote'type' => 'mysql', 'name' => 'myname', 'server' => 'IP address', 'user' => 'myname', 'password' => 'mypassword', 'table_preby Jael - Phorum Support

Thanks for such a quick response. Here is what I tried (the appropriate text is changed in the 'real' config file). Perhaps I misunderstood you though? It is still giving me an error and since I am new, I'm not sure that I'm following you correctly. Quote 'type' => 'mysql', 'name' => 'phorum5--',by Jael - Phorum Support

Hello again, We have not yet heard back from our contact at CWH. He poked around some, didn't see anything and thought it was odd. He said he'd take another look later and we've not heard from him (much to our dismay and in-spite of follow up emails). I uploaded 5.2.6 and hoped that the database would be recognised with this version. It was not, so I uploaded 5.1.25 again inby Jael - Phorum Support

Thanks again for your quick comments. I did try commenting out the charset line but I still had the same problem. I will send them an email and hopefully they will find something in the logs. I'll let you know what I find out. Jaelby Jael - Phorum Support

Thank you for your note Maurice. I deleted everything again (just to be sure) and uploaded the files for Phorum. I did copy the edited config.php up with everything else, as well as my edited template. Other than that file and folder, all files are exactly like the zipped download. We checked (repeatedly and from different IPs) the existence of the db; it is patiently waiting to be used. Thby Jael - Phorum Support
Fresh Install of 5.2.3 problems - 18 years ago
Hello, I am a newbie, and I am attempting to install Phorum 5.2.3. I am receiving the following error when attempting to begin the admin.php installer: Quote"The database connection failed. Please check your database configuration in include/db/config.php. If the configuration is okay, check if the database server is running." I have double checked the config.php and checked thaby Jael - Phorum Support
Re: New website and Phorum Install - which version? - 18 years ago
Thanks for such quick responses. I will go with 5.2 then, especially with it being ready for rc1. Stable is nice. I am looking forward to installing it this weekend. New website and Phorum Install - which version? - 18 years ago
Hello, I am new to the world of 'real' web design. I have used a CMS in the past, but am setting up a new site that is based around a forum with only a few actual html pages. I have a friend who is willing to answer the occasional question, but some decisions I have to make. Deciding which version of Phorum I want to install is one of those. If I install 5.1.25, I get a stable verby Jael - 5.1 Phorum Support
