No, that's not a problem Ulf. You can let the rule work in any forum, but let the module only check the post count for the active forum. Those are two different rule configuration options and "The post count for a user is defined as number of posts in the active forum" is set.
Christophe, can you post your template change as well?

Yes of course :
in read.tpl :
<td class="message-user-info" style="white-space: nowrap">
{IF MESSAGES->user->admin}
<strong>{LANG->Admin}</strong><br />
{ELSEIF MESSAGES->moderator_post}
<strong>{LANG->Moderator}</strong><br />
{/IF}
{IF MESSAGES->ip}
{LANG->IP}: {MESSAGES->ip}<br />
{/IF}
{IF MESSAGES->user}
{LANG->Posts}: {MESSAGES->user->posts}
{/IF}
{IF MESSAGES->user->POST_STATUS}
<br />Rang : {MESSAGES->user->POST_STATUS}
{/IF}
</td>
When you install this module for the first time (not an upgrade) you get an error before you can add any rules:
Warning: array_shift(): The argument should be an array in /***/phorum/mods/user_tagging/settings/edit_rule.php on line 223
Warning: implode(): Bad arguments. in /***/phorum/mods/user_tagging/settings/edit_rule.php on line 224
Once you add a single rule the error disappears.
Not serious, just needs an is_array() error trap probably.

Your README file to this module is excellent! I was wondering how challenging it would be to add a rule to the existing set. For example the criteria to how many threads an authenticated user has responded to (while disregarding the number of posts to each thread). I also would like to expand the "user type" selection on the settings page with another type of user, specified by a custom profile variable. Could you maybe give me some advice? Thank you!

I would restrict the type of user selection to Phorum's built-in types. For using custom profile fields, I would add another option to the selection criteria that checks custom profile fields or even any field in the user data.
For "number of threads replied to", some work is needed in line with the various post counts. The data is not available in the Phorum core, so a counting feature needs to be implemented. That should not be really hard and could lean a lot on the post count code. After implementing, a post count rebuild is then needed to compute the totals for each user.
Feel free to go ahead with this. You can of course ask questions as you go. I'm willing to adopt these changes in the module repository.

Hi,
We've recently moved our phorum to a different host and since then all the user ranks are now coming back as Administrator.
I have two ranks based on the user type, one being admins and the other mods. There are 5 other ranks based on post counts. The settings used to work on the previous host. The database was copied by generating create table and insert scripts. I'm currently using phorum 5.2.9a and User Tagging 1.0.5.
I have tried the recacluate post count button several times, and even tried deleting all the rules and recreating them, and a simple admin rank based on user type and a user based on post count > 1 is giving every user a rank of admin.
I would be grateful of any assistance in things I can check.
Thanks, Jon.

Sorry for the late answer. I missed your question I think.
Can you describe the rules that you have configured (or make a screenshot), so we can setup a similar config to check your findings?

Hi Maurice,
There are a number of rules, they all used to work on the old server it's just since the move they stopped working. The rules are defined as :
All rules are set for Any Forum, displayed on profile pages and read pages are both ticked.
Administrator - All post counts blank, User Type = An administrator.
Level 1 - Post count from 0 to 100, User Type = Any.
Level 2 - Post count from 100 to 250, User Type = Any.
Level 3 - Post count from 250 to 500, User Type = Any.
Level 4 - Post count from 500 to 1000, User Type = Any.
Level 5 - Post count from 1000, User Type = Any.
Moderator - All post counts blank, User Type A moderator or administrator, User Group = Moderators.
News Feeds, All post counts blank, User Group = News Feeds.
No matter how I fiddle with the settings all users get a rank of Administrator. If it helps I have a dev site where I can reproduce the behaviour and am happy to setup an admin user if it would help...
Edit: Just gone back to the my dev site to check and all users are now stuck at Level 1

What is the template code that you are using to implement the user ranking in the pages? I cannot reproduce the issue on my local system.
