Module: Recent Messages

Is it a way to list only the unread messages like in other forum (SMF for example) ?

thats nothing this module does as far as I know and I know no other module which does that currently.

It is a feature that I had in mind for this module, but which I didn't implement yet. Implementing that feature requires some special treatment, because of its complexity and possible speed impacts. Right now it's like Thomas sais: a recent messages module, not a new messages module.

I would not need a "New Messages" module at all, as this is a basic feature which is well-implemented in the Phorum core already.

I don't think so Ulf... with up to 20 forums, it's very useful to have a module which recapitulate the new messages with their subjects

WIth the recent messages module, you can go a long way, if you visit the recent messages page often enough. That's my phorum.org startup page really. That way, I quickly see all newly posted messages. So Ulf's right there.

When I have been away for a while, the messages do stack up. Then it's not as easy anymore to use the recent messages. One has to click through all the forums that have new messages to read up. A module that would simply present all unread messages would be very handy then, because it saves on the clicks and gives a tidy view of all new messages. So Christophe is right there.

Both interfaces are useful in their own designated context.

Hi Christophe and Maurice.

I also only use the "Recent Messages" pages of my forums as starting points - but do even better do remember myself to visit them frequently:

Firefox offers to open a range of tabbed URL pages at once on launch (Tools > Options > Main > Use Current Pages). This is the easiest way to never forget to review your "Recent Messages" pages at least daily. :-)

Is there a way to fix the recent message template to take advantage of Azumandias's custom attachment icon module? Or will using the same template icon code that Azumandias posted will work in recent message as well too?
