gitaar.net modules used

Maurice,

Could you list the modules you are using on your forum? I am looking for more of the 5.2 template look. The "big guys" are looking for avatars and more of a SMF look and I would rather stick with phorum because I love the speed and power. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Well, I got one or two enabled :-) Some of the things on my site are in the template in full (like view switching for threaded / flat, large view / compact view and avatar images), but most of the functinality enhancements are in mods. BTW: phorum can of course be changed to look like SMF by means of the templates. For "big guys", I know that they think the looks are most important. My forums looked exactly like they do now (except feature wise) when I ran 5.1, because of the customized templating. Here we go, in order of appearance :-)

Edit: I wrecked the list a bit on post. It's fixed now.

AjaxAPI
this implements a Javascript Ajax API, which I use from the front page application of my website, to provide easy access to new messages in the forums. This is not a released module, because it is targeted at 5.2, but I will release it as soon as 5.2 goes stable.

All pages link for flat read mode (version 1.0.5)
Adds an "all" link to "page 1, 2, 3, 4, all" type links.

Announcements (version 1.1)
The new announcement system for 5.2, which is implemented as a module.

BB Code Phorum Mod
The good old BBcode module.

Drop Edit Message (version 1.0.0)
Do not show "message edited by..." notices if moderators modify the message. Can be enabled for users too through the settings.

Editor Tools
Add editor tool buttons, like they are available on this site too.

Editor Tools addon: Topic Smiley (version 1.0.5)
This module will override the behaviour of the default subject smiley tool that is in the Editor Tools module, version 1.1 and higher. With this module enabled, only one smiley can be used in the subject and the smiley will always be placed at the very start of the subject (prevents smiley cluttering of the message list).

Embed Phorum (version 0.0.19)
I run Phorum within my own website framework, fully embedded.

Event Logging (version 1.0.1)
A new module which can log all kinds of events and errors to a central log.

File List (version 1.0.5)
To show all files in a thread at the start of that thread.

Gitaar.net website modifications (version 1.0.0)
Some modifications that are targeted at my own web site. There aren't really interesting for public distribution (there were some interesting features, but I separated those to their own modules over time).

Go To Topic (version 1.0.3)
Used to be able to jump back to a followup page of the list page instead of always jumping back to the first page after returning from a topic.

Google Links (version 1.0.5)
Makes [google] bbcode tags possible.

Google Maps (version 1.0.6)
Lets users tell other users where they are in the world by putting a pin on the map in their control center.

Guitar TAB Module (version 1.0.0)
This module will try to autodetect ASCII art based guitar TABs in forum messages and
automatically applies the bbcode tag
to them (unless they are already within a
 block).

Hide Cancel In Editor (version 1.0.0)
A tiny mod to remove the "Cancel" button from all posting editor screens.

Hide Signatures (version 1.0.1)
This allows my users to hide other people's signatures when reading messages.

In-body Attachments (version 1.4.0)
This module makes it possible to put links to attachment inline on any position in the
message body. Moreover, image attachments can be displayed inline, so users that are
reading the message can view them directly.

Mark All Forums Read (version 1.0.4)
Displays a link to mark all forums read on the index page.

Message Icons (version 1.0.8)
Automatically adds icons in front of all messages. This could be done through the templates as well, but the difference is that this will add icons for any formatted subject line. So it's less work to get all occurrances in the template working and additionally, my front page Ajax tool will use the icons automatically as well.

Meta Description (version 1.0.2)
This module automatically adds a meta description field to the <head> section of the
page. The meta data is used by search engines to create a description for the page. Using
this module might improve indexing of your website by search engines.

New Count module (version 1.12)
Shows the number of new messages in threads instead of just indicating that there are new
messages. It also computes totals for all new messages and treads in the forum index and
message lists.

Real Name (version 2.1.1)
This module will replace all occurrences of usernames in the whole Phorum-system with the
real names (based on the real_name user field). It also addresses searching by author and
finding recipients when writing a private message. For 5.2, I am currently working on a system to implement similar functionality in core. So once I got my gitaar.net site updated for these new changes, this module will be ditched. It's this module that takes care of formatting all user names on the site in a special manner (colors, fonts, italic and bold can all be controlled by the users for their own "nametag").

Smiley Replacement Mod
The good old smileys module.

Spam Hurdles (version 1.1.3)
Some protection against spam bots.

Speller Pages (version 1.0.4)
For a "Check spelling" button from the posting editor.

Sphinx Fulltext-Search Module 0.9.1
For using the Sphinx search engine for searching Phorum messages. This one is currently disabled, because there were some large changes in the 5.2 search system. But it will be back up again soon. Thomas has done great work on this.

Topic Poll (version 1.0.5)
This module makes it possible to add polls to forum threads. For each forum you can
configure who can create and who can answer polls.

You might be bad, but I am BadTM ! :->
In addition to the load of mods, I'm also running the most up to date Phorum site in the world (5.2 development up to the latest changes). And I still lacking a couple of modules, because I've not yet programmed some mod ideas that I have.

the other devs call me StupidTM =)

Me too, as a matter of fact ;-) But I consider it my ultimate development testing environment. I do not recommend anybody doing the same.
