I added the new language files in module package 1.0.2.

Note that the language files weren't complete. I added a German translation for the 1.0.2 language string "markup_user_registered_days" to the main UTF-8 and ISO-8859-1 files. I'm not sure if my translation is correct. Also, you probably want to add it to the other varieties of the German language files too.

I published a new version of my German Language Files Package which includes also translations for you module in two character sets iso-8859-1 and utf-8.

Please add the attached language files to the next release of your module and remove maybe existing old style files like german.php oder german-sie.php. Thanks!

I Phorum-ized the patches and included them in the main distro. Check out version 1.0.2 for the updates.

This is a mod to Maurice's Signature Restrictions module, released in the hope that:
a) it will help the Phorum community
and b) that Maurice will incorporate it into his official module

PURPOSE OF MOD:
One of my forums has lots of spammers who register an account, add 2-3 spam links in their sig and manually post inane replies to existing threads, just so their sigs are seen.
The solution to this, as requested by my forum community, is to restrict markup in sigs to new users, which will hopefully discourage spammers.
This module therefore allows markup in sigs to only be used for users who have been registered more than x number of days (admin configurable).
If a spammer did have the patience to register, wait X days and post, they will have to do it all again once their account is deleted.

NOTE TO MAURICE:
I have altered :
- all lang files, added markup_user_registered_days and date_format
- settings.php (one line, commented as /\dam)
- signature_restrictions.php (one single block of code, commented as /\dam)

I have tested the module by manually changing the timestamp of my Phorum user and then outputting debug messages accordingly. I've tested it mainly with values of 1-30 days.

hi maurice,

i want to set up images restrictions using your module, but if i set up my signature using [.img.] [./img] tags it still working although i checked the deny images checkbox.

I'm using version 5.2.13

An option to disable smileys in signatures would be nice. (though it could be argued that functionality should go into the smileys-mod itself.)

Hi Maurice,

1. Your Signature Restriction Module is not compatible with your Embed Images Module. The check against images ("img"-tag) doesn't work because Embed Images uses something like "[embed_image 7c7646ac6e6f5b072986b633f593da5c]" in the formated signature.

2. I like to explain to my users any limitations for form fields. So if the Signature Restriction Module is active it would be nice to have a text like "(restrictions: max. %length% characters in total; %lines% lines; %line_length% characters per line; images denied; markup denied)" in a template var to add it in cc_usersettings.tpl.

3. I attach german language files for your next version.

No, you cannot restrict that through this module. You can restrict the user of images in full. For limiting the size of images, you can use the "Embed Images" module, but if you want different size restrictions for your signature and your message bodies, then that one will not be useful.

I haven't downloaded or installed this yet, so perhaps it has teh feature I'm about to mention: I'm looking for a module just like this (thanks!), but would it be possible to restrict the size (physical dimensions) of a picture in the signature, and the number of pictures allowed?

Module: Signature Restrictions

This module implements configurable features for enforcing signature restrictions. The module will check the signature when it is stored in the control center by the user and show an error to the user if the new signature does not meet the restrictions.

Available restrictions are:

- The maximum number of characters;
- The maximum number of lines;
- The maximum number of characters for a single line;
- An option to disable the use of images;
- An option to disable any kind of markup.
