I'd like to suggest a mod that displays the online status of the user for their AIM, MSN, and/or Yahoo ID that they fill in within their "Phorum Profile."
I found an MSN Online Status Indicator for phpBB that you could perhaps **borrow** the code from, address to it is [

I have no idea how you could incorporate it with Phorum, but I haven't messed with it because I don't want to screw my phorum up again.
I'm sure someone could get it figured out fairly quickly.
