Apologies if someone has already made this simple mod, but I couldn't see it...
This only makes the following changes, to stop us Brits getting annoyed ;-) :
  • Control Center -> Control Centre
  • Buddy -> Friend
  • mm/dd/yy -> dd/mm/yy

A different route that you could take here, which would make for a simpler language override file, is to include the main english.php language file and only override those language variables that are really different. That might be easier for future upgrades, because you might then be able to reuse the same code and be done very quickly, even if the main language file changes.

I'd suggest naming the language file english-uk.utf8.php (following our future language file naming scheme, preventing overwriting the language file on upgrades at the same time) and using this type of code at the start:
include(dirname(__FILE__)."/english.php");

You won't have to worry about the module language files. The Brits are lucky enough to have the english.php file as the fallback language file for modules. So if you do not provide a specific english-uk.utf-8.php file, Phorum will fallback to english.php. I guess your only worry in that field would be the color^H^Hour scheme manager =)

Attached is an implementation of Maurice's suggestion.

I've made the same changes as sheik plus a couple more:
canceled -> cancelled
Did you forget -> Have you forgotten (the only obviously un-British use of simple past tense that I noticed).

I also found one occurrence of 'cancelled' in the original (American) language file, for MsgMergeCancel. I've copied that entry unchanged to the British language file in case it's ever changed in the main file.
