We are currently considering to move the custom subversion repository and the trac system to the integrated GitHub solution and are doing some test conversions and imports.
That would mean that we would use git instead of subversion and the github issues tracker instead of trac ticketing.

In our opinion it would be easier for others to participate in phorum development and overall easier to handle.

What is your opinion on this move?

GitHub is great, though it doesn't necessarily subsume Trac ticketing. Decentralized VCSes are good, however!

I'm fully supporting the move. I've had nothing bad experience with trac over the years I was active providing patches, sometimes depending on an admin to fix something. Let alone what github provides others trying to imitate.

github FTW from my end :)

Will it still allow me to like SVN up and down like always?

I am all for it as long it similar to the SVN

Github provides SVN access transparently, see [github.com] . Depending on your specific needs that may be sufficient.
