Module: switchview

This module allows registered users to switch the view in both list and read view.
Just upload the extracted module to your mods-folder and do this manual step:
You need to add the link to the place where you want it to show up,
e.g. in list.tpl, list_threads.tpl, read.tpl, read_threads.tpl, read_hybrid.tpl with a link like the following
{IF SWITCHURL}<a href="{SWITCHURL}">Switch View</a>{/IF}

Icons and configuration example

I use this module like this. Message view is by default "Hybrid" for me, so this I don't want to change...

I put in list.tpl:
{IF SWITCHURL}
    <a class="icon icon-switch-view-threaded" href="{SWITCHURL}">{LANG->SwitchViewThreaded}</a>
{/IF}

And in list_threads.tpl:
{IF SWITCHURL}
    <a class="icon icon-switch-view-titles" href="{SWITCHURL}">{LANG->SwitchViewTitles}</a>
{/IF}

In css.tpl:
.icon-switch-view-threaded {
    background-image: url('templates/{TEMPLATE}/images/text_linespacing.png');
}

.icon-switch-view-titles {
    background-image: url('templates/{TEMPLATE}/images/text_linespacing_reverse.png');
}

And put the icons (one of them is original from [www.famfamfam.com], second one is the same icon modified) in template images directory and make appropriate addition to phorum language file like this:
    'SwitchViewThreaded' => "Threaded View",
    'SwitchViewTitles' => "List view",

And here are the icons:

hmm just that these view changes are not about linespacing as your icons suggest.

Not my idea! I followed Emerald template's politics of not giving icons from [www.famfamfam.com] new appropriate names. For example text_align_justify is used for message list icon. Cheers!

Heh, I'm not talking about the name but the content of the icons :).

Don't they express the feeling of expanding/collapsing lists/threads? This is what I intended though...

Suggestions?

Taking account your probably justified critique...

Hi all,
first post for me.
I'm registering to thanks you about this add-on.
Is what I was looking for.
I'm not yet familiar with phorum and the third view ( hybrid ), is the Tram solution working?

I installed the switch view module but it doesn't remember my view when I go back to the message list.

Example, reading:
www.**********.com/phorum/read.php?1,64123
Click on Switch View:
www.**********.com/phorum/read.php?1,64123,64123,sv=1#msg-64123
Click on Message List (I have the GoToTopic Module):
www.**********.com/phorum/list.php?1,page=11#msg-64123

And then the 'sv=1' is gone and doesn't appear in the read.php links either.

I seem to remember that in Phorum 3 it just remembered the type of view.

It this how it is supposed to work?
Thanks,
