Module: Embed MP3
November 25, 2007 06:49AM
This module implements an embedded MP3 player. MP3 files can be played directly from a URL using the [mp3]..[/mp3] BBcode tag. If the "Embed Attachments" module is installed and activated, it is possible to use the MP3 player for attachments as well.

To play the MP3 files, the Flash based audio player from the Audio Player
Wordpress plugin by 1pixelout is used. For more information about this
player, check out the web site: [www.1pixelout.net]

Changelog:
----------

2008-01-18 v1.0.3

    - Added an editor tool button, using an icon that was provided by M@AATW.

2008-01-03 v1.0.2

    - Some fixes to the template to make it fully XHTML compliant.

2007-12-08 v1.0.1

    - Deleted float:left for the player. That solves some problems
      when the player is the last item in the message body (it would show
      outside the body div) and I think it is okay when the MP3 player is
      shown on its own line in the body.

2007-11-25 v1.0.0

- Initial release.

I uploaded version 1.0.3 of the module. This version adds an editor tool MP3 button, using an icon that was provided by M@AATW. To show the editor tools button, enable it in the module's settings page.

MP3 Tag Editor

You can add mp3 tag editor in to your audio player so try [www.id3butler.com]

Ehh... why would that be needed on the webserver? It could be a nifty option, but IMO that is more something for the desktop. So does id3butler think:

ID3Butler is a MP3 tag editor that runs as a windows application, running in your Taskbar tray.

If tag editing is to be built into the module somehow, then these kinds of products are not needed. There are simple libraries enough for editing those. But for me, it's not a really hot feature, so I don't think that I am the one that is going to build this. Others are of course welcome to write code for it.

nice module, the MP3 module looks simple but great, however I think it is not so useful as users have to bother first in upload the MP3 to some server, some server that have to show full url and not encoded (a la Rapidshare etc)

having this feature (autoupload of MP3 and stored on server) implemented would be too difficult right?

Did you try the combination of the following?

- Attachments

yeahhh works fantastic, didnt thought in integrating it
users are lazy and if they have to find their MP3 etc sometimes is too much for them, this solution is perfect!

this reminds me what some othe user said regarding the avatar mod (users lazy to upload) .
Could be possible to use the conjunction of this mods (upload, resize) to have their avatars resized to maximum allowed size?

thank you for the continuous effort!

I already wrote an API for resizing images. It is now in use by the embed images module. I already planned to also use it for resizing avatars, but there is one problem. Users also upload animated GIF files and these are broken by resizing. There are trhee possible solutions though:

  • Do not resize animated GIFs, just deny them if they are too big;
  • Resize the GIFs anyway, even though it breaks animation;
  • Make the image api library smarter to also resize animated GIFs.

One or more options will be implemented for the next update of the module.
