Unfortunately this is a very busy week for me, but I will bump this request up to the top of my todo list. I may be able to get it going quickly, but it may also have to wait for the weekend. I'll let you know as soon as its ready.

Please give this new group_autoemail.php a try. It should work with v0.8 of the SMTP module. I will need to release a different version eventually for the new SMTP module which uses a different engine for sending the email.

EDIT: File removed as this feature is included in the module beginning in v5.2.1.05

YOU DA MAN!

Once again I am humbled by the knowledge of the Great Phorum Mod Writers.

That worked like a charm and got management off my back.

I Appreciate it.

I'm glad that worked for you. Please note that if you upgrade beyond Phorum 5.2.9a (whenever the next release is made) you will need to be cautious as this module will not currently work with the soon to be released SMTP Mail module upgrade. That said, I am in the process of developing this module to work with the new SMTP Mail and Thomas has made that eaiser by writing attachment support into the new module.

Module: Group Auto-Email v5.2.1.05 - SMTP Mail module support
December 09, 2008 01:34PM
I have completed v5.2.1.05 of this module with the following changes:

- Enhancement: German language supported added courtesy of Phorum user Sunbringer.

- Enhancement: Added support for the SMTP Mail module (both v0.8 and the newer versions using PHP Mailer). Thank you Phorum developer Thomas Seifert for your work creating the SMTP Mail module.

- Bugfix: If a message is posted in a forum with no groups attached, the message data was not passed on to the next module.

- Enhancement: Moved the attachment processing out of the user loop to streamline the email process.

Joe,

Thanks for the continued work on this module!

Unfortunately, I am having a problem again. You probably remember the last 5 or 6 times you helped me through issues I was having (none of which happened to be your codes fault). :(

My latest issues (started about a week ago), is that the e-mails are only sending out to 1 person (me). Everyone else that is supposed to receive the e-mails is not. In the past the issues have been that e-mails stopped sending out completely.

I created a few test users, 1 with ISP based e-mail, 1 with a private domain e-mail, and 1 with Gmail (which is what I use). After posting a message in the forum that should send out e-mails via your module, only I received the e-mail notification.

I turned on the SMTP mail module and that didn't work either.

I noticed that PMing someone on the Phorum doesn't send out e-mail either like it used to, unless someone PM's me (then I receive the e-mail fine). Does this mean the problem is with my server and not Phorum or the Group Auto-Email mod?

I am getting "E-mail accepted by sending server: 1" in the event logging, so the module appears to be reporting that they are sending out just fine.

Thanks!

First, can I assume you uploaded the latest version of this module before posting these issues?

It is very strange that one email would go out but not the others. Maybe try a test group which has only the test users in it. See if only one of the test users gets an email. Please note, this group should not include your email which is working.

By didn't work I assume you meant only your email address received a message. Please try the suggestion above with the SMTP module as well.

This definitely puts this issue beyond simply this module, but we can still work on it here. Did you test PMs with the SMTP module running?

Well, unless you are running the latest version (i think) the debugger only logged the first email sent.

So to recap, please upload the latest version of this module if you haven't.
Please test a single group without your email in it.
Please test PMs with the SMTP module.

The next step would be to download the latest updates to the SMTP module. These updates are only available via the SVN snapshots, so if you can't get them, please let me know and I will try to repackage them for you.

Good luck :)
