Hi, I know everyone in the group that is supposed to get e-mails and no one is getting them. The 1 e-mail address in the debug code is mine, so I know that I am not receiving the e-mail.

I'm really stumped here as a response of 1 from the server means that the email should have been sent. Some further steps to try:
  • Did you check your junk mail box to see if the email got caught as spam?
  • Could you create a test forum with a new test group that only includes your email, then place a test post?
    • This will help eliminate some of the variables.
  • Could you try a pm or new registration to be sure that any emails are going out?

I tested your suggestions and found on your third point that NO system e-mails are going out. I suppose I will need to post in the Phorum help section, as this has nothing to do with your mod.

Thanks again for all the help!

that won't help you either. I assume that Azumandias module is checking correctly that the message is sent to the mail function of your server and that part isn't sending the mails out. check your mailserver logs or get in contact with your server administrator,

I switched on Phorum's SMTP module and now system e-mails are going out correctly (I have been meaning to do that), however Group Auto-Email's message must still be trying to use PHP to send mail. Am I correct that it sends through PHP regardless of the SMTP module's on/off setting?

You are correct, the SMTP mod didn't exist when I created my mod. I will have to look into hooking into it, but I don't have a whole lot of free time at the moment so it may take me a while. You may want to let your server admin know that the php mail doesn't seem to be working.

Ok, the SMTP mod is well written and easy to use so I was able to cobble something together for the short term. The only issue is that this fix will not send attachments as the SMTP mod does not have that functionality built in. Try the attached, zipped file (replaces the existing group_autoemail.php) and see if it helps.

EDIT: file superceded by the group_autoemail_for_smtp_module_v0_8.zip.

Azumandias,

My server admin fixed the PHP mail issue, but I appreciate the creation of the SMTP code. I am switching to SMTP and will test what you have posted. I don't have attachments enabled on my Phorum, so not people able to send them via SMTP is not an issue for me. :)

Thanks again!

Hi there,

Can I insert a single-click unsubscribe link in the email that is sent to forum members, so they can opt out without having to go into their control center?

Best regards,

David

Sorry, that is not something supported at the moment. I will add it to my todo list but can't promise anything in the next couple of weeks.

Joe,

I to have been forced to switch to the SMTP module.
That means the group autoemail feature no longer works.
I tried the file you had listed but went straight to an error 500 page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as we can no longer use the PHP mailer
and must use the SMTP mod as we now have to logon to send emails.
But the group autoemailer has been a godsend for us.

Thankyou
Michael
