Apologies if this question has already been posted, but I didn't find it in the forum.

BBCode URLs work fine when the URL is in the form [url=http://...]

But for my intranet site, I would like to use URLs (or are they called URIs? I never know) such as file:///C:/Tornado/docs/books.html , where the intended pointed document is /Tornado/docs/books.html in the reader's PC's C: drive (yes, all of them are Windows machines)

Is this possible at all ? Using [url=file:///C:/Tornado/docs/books.html]books[/url] does not seem to work, at least for Firefox web browsers.

That is not a type of URL that we would include by default in the bbcode url tag. If you need that, then you will have to hack it in the code yourself in the mods/bbcode/bbcode.php script or write a separate module that handles this format. You could also enable the HTML module and write a full <a href="file:///....">link</a> instead. These are the only options you've got right now. I can't remember anybody publishing a module of any kind for this type of feature.

Side note: putting this by default in the bbcode module would get us a lot of wannabe funny people who would post links in forums like [file:///C:], telling the user "You are hacked, look at this, I can see the contents of your hard disk!"
