Happy New Year everyone.
As there were no posts in the developer blog for quite some time I'm trying to post some random thoughts about phorum and what the year 2007 will bring for it.
We've all been quite busy and not been working too much on phorum in the last weeks but I hope that'll change shortly.
For me personally the work-situation will not allow too much phorum-work until late february but I hope that at least Maurice (hopefully refreshed after his vacation ;)) and Brian (after the years end stress) will catch up and drive us forward.
I think we will see a fully refreshed phorum-5.2 with a brand new template, lots of caching (and hopefully more performance through that), many more docs and different doc formats (maurice has been working on that, we currently see additional html and pdf docs) and a lot of other smaller and larger changes and enhancements.

I'm really planning for it to get my own forums to 5.2 too :).
Good luck in 2007.

I also want to wish everybody all the best for the upcoming year. Since the work load for my job is more or less gone now (also end-of-year-stress), I have more time to commit to Phorum development.
The first thing to start with this year, is bringing my own website up to speed with Phorum 5.2 (the development version, I would not recommend anybody to do the same as me! You will get hurt!!). That will finally get me over the shame of still running version 3.4.8 for my own web site :-)
After this project, there's plenty of work left for Phorum. My first priority will be to improve and extend the Spam Hurdles Module. There are some suggestions and problem reports that were brought up by users. Thanks a lot for the feedback and keep it coming! I do not use the module myself (no spam on my forum so far), so I'm relying on the community here for monitoring the module's effectiveness and performance.
I really look forward to the upcoming year and am convinced that it will bring a lot of good things to the Phorum community.
