How to integrate Phorum with Elgg

Hi everybody, i am very new to php and all these. i am planning to start a medical community with elgg (the best opensource social networking script). i want to intgrate phorum to elggs database, such that my elgg users can access my phorum without again giving the logging in information. Anybody please help me. Thank you :-)

Please, start out by searching for "user_session_restore" on these forums. That is a hook in the Phorum system that can be used for doing single sign on. But beware: you say that you're new to PHP. That probably means that writing the PHP code can be quite daunting.

Also take a look at the module developer documentation for general knowledge about writing Phorum modules. You will have to write a module when you want to use the user_session_restore hook for implementing the integration.

Am interested on this...is it a meant for any CMS platform like wordpress or what?

Please check out the module description here: External Authentication. Currently, the only plugin available is for Elgg 1.1 but I have created the module in such a way that other programmers can create plugins for their own external applications. As I have the time, I will also be tackling other apps myself, but that won't be happening for at least a month or so.

Has anyone verified that "External Authentication" works to integrate Phorum with the current Elgg release 1.5?
