No, defenitely not worth it. I think that single line is the only change for the release. I mainly mentioned it to let you know that in the next version that you download, the fix will already be included.

I included two templates with the module. "embed_default" is a moderation of the standard default template. "embed_phorum" is one that I tailor made for fitting into small spaces (that one can be seen in action on chanh's [www.opensourcecms.com]). If you look at the settings.tpl file for that last template, you'll even find some options for tweaking what gets displayed, which can be used to make it fit even more.
So for space: go for embed_phorum and edit settings.tpl to your likings.

That feature would be in the user's control center. Did you look there?

The facility for attachments can be configured in the settings for each forum. There you can allow for file types and file sizes. The user file upload does not have any real purpose in the core Phorum installation (besides the obvious function of storing files on the server) but modules could use this. For example, the avatar module uses the user file storage for storing the avatar image.
