vroot with "sticky" folder

Hi everybody,

I am designing a webpage which will have different sections for different cities. This means, that each city will have its own phorum part (vroot).

My question is now: is there a way to have folders which will be shown in every subfolder (vroot or normal). Like for example a forum/folder or blog about the webpage in general which could be seen in all city vroots? Or do I have to add this "sticky" forum/folder by my template/theme?

There is no default feature to handle this. So it would need a module to take care of this. Maybe the "index" hook can be used to add the special forum to each vroot's index page.

Feel free to ask if you run into troubles. Download some mods from the modules forum to see what their structure looks like and read docs/creating_mods.txt for a primer on module writing.

Is it maybe possible to change the visibility of the forums and folders on the fly? So I don't have to use vroots, can use common announcements and search and still only show the web page and city relevant forums...

On the fly based on what? This is possible by write a module and hooking into the "index" hook, in order to modify the list of available forums.

that sounds good.

Set all forums to invisible and then choose the right ones and make theem visible through the module...

I guess it will slow the forum down a bit...
