Image url instead of color in "settings.tpl"

I am trying to change a VAR on the settings.tpl as follows:

Original

{var navbackcolor #COCOCO}

Modified

{var navbackcolor url('images/bckg.jpg')}

It's not working. What am I doing wrong?

Try if dropping the single quotes helps.
They are not needed and maybe they confuse the template engine.

Did not work but solved modifying the CSS.tpl
