'Hot Topics' ?

I've been thinking about something that displays a little .gif when a topic reaches something like 500 views or 50 replies or similar...

Yep that's what I guessed but I'm still struggling with the module concept! :-D

Hopefully somebody'll give it a go in far, far, far less time than it would take me!

Don't look at me this time. :) I find the extra graphics annoying.

O.K. I'm having a go myself but I don't know how to get the mod to return the result as a graphic. I suppose it doesn't really have to be a graphic, it could just be a word next to the subject in list.tpl.

Is there a comparable mod that I could adapt?

You could just modify the subject by adding the text. Or to add a graphic, just add an <img src="someimage"> tag instead of a text label in the same place.

Hmm...ok could you just do this as a tempate hack then?

Something like

{if REPLIES >500}<img src="image>{/if}
