Facebook Connect Module - Any interest?

I'm interested to see if any of the module developers are interested in incorporating the new Facebook Connect option 'as a module' into Phorum. It appears like this might be a very good solution to allow more users to login to our forums and tie into the power of Facebook. Learn more at [developers.facebook.com]

I may try to do this outside of a module, but if this is something that can be done with a module.. I think it would be a great asset for Phorum. Your thoughts?

You know I love a challenge, and I kid you not, I was just taking a shower and wondering what to do next with Phorum. . . so yes, unless one of the devs want to tackle this, I would be happy to take this on.

That said, I am in the middle of developing a new template (sneak peek available on my development site) but I should be done with that in a week or so. After that, I will start work on this idea. Thanks for bringing it forward.

Thank you again for your eagerness and I'll look forward to your work and I think this would be very interesting to see how productive a FaceBook login will be for other Phorum Admins.

Count me in as interested.

Especially since one of my sites is primarily shot towards college students. Being able to login via facebook or create a profile based on it would be excellent.

As you play around with Facebook and phorum, have a look at OpenInviter

If my initial assessment is right, Openinviter is more of a tool than a framework, and it seems to gaining some traction with all of it's site-specific plugins.

Maybe you could 500 social networks for the price of one :)

Does anyone know whether a module for Facebook Connect has been developed yet?

Not that we know of. If anybody has built such a module, then it was not posted on these forums.

I'm very interested in building in social network features into Phorum. Some other ideas might be this.
