phpBB like forum list

I know rheo had done one of these, but i can't tell if he is still working on it. I tried it and it did not work for me. So, I just hacked one up real quick.

1. This is a replacement for index.php. Be careful upgrading.

2. Replace index.php in your Phorum dir with the one in this package.

3. Replace index.tpl in your template with the one in this package.

4. This hack only recognizes folders at the top level of the Phorum.

5. It only recognizes forums inside the folders at the top level of the Phorum.

6. Organize your folders and forums like this:

Folder 1
->Forum 1
->Forum 2

Folder 2
->Forum 3
->Forum 4

Any thing outside of this structure will be ignored.

7. If a folder contains no forums it can show, it will not be shown.

Brian,

The screenshot looks great! This was exactly what I Was looking for.

I tried installing it myself, and it ended up looking like the attached image. Any ideas what might be wrong? This is an otherwise vanilla install of phorum 5.0.10 0 this is my only installed hack/mod.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Thanks!
Drew

Did you install the tpl file as well?

Yep, I did. I just double checked it. Your index.tpl is in phorum/templates/default/. I also diffed it against the old to make sure it's actually a different file - it is.

Thanks,
Drew

clear your compiled templates.
or edit the new index.tpl (i.e. add an empty line or such) and save it again so that it has changed its timestamp.

!

Wonderful, that was exactly what it took.

Thanks a bunch for your prompt help - loving the product. Glad to see someone making a forum that's more interested in speed and clealiness rather than avatars, stars, icons for everything, smilies, and all the rest.

Thanks!
Drew

Hi Brian,

I guess lines 47 & 48 weren't ment to stay in there:

print_var($folders);
print_var($folder_forums);
