Forum Index Flat View Hack
March 10, 2004 06:51AM
Do you want to categorize your forums into folders but your Users complain that they get lost in the multi-page directory structure?

I altered the index.php file so that I can see the contents of the Folders and link directly to them.

you can see an example of this here:

I would next like to make it so to allow for permission controlled invisible forums.

Basically not show the forum if the user is not allowed to see it.

i would suggest also allowing the type .tpl to be attached to this forum.

cheers.

I also had to update my index.tpl and my css.tpl and my settings.tpl..

but these forums don't allow uploading files with a .tpl extention yet..

it's wasn't a tough edit anyway.. just had to change the loop.

there is something really weird about the way the "edit post" feature works..

It seems to let me update it but then leaves my previous post as well. is this intentional ?

appreciate it if someone could clean up this thread.

adding: one more little test

This forum allows .zip and .tar.gz files. If you have more than a couple of files to upload, I suggest doing it that way.

it would be cool if folks could look at the text files without having to download and unzip them..
