After trying many Spanish language files, nothing works. I got system error messages at the top of my phorum admin. After browsing some threads, I didn´t find any answer.

So, I made a quick fix. I created a new Spanish file using an English charset, removing "ñ" (I replace any word using "ñ" with a synonym wihtout "ñ") and any accent. So, you will not have any issue. Never. Not "grammatically correct at all", but It works.

Hope it helps a newbie.

Adding new languages to phorum is pretty much a do it yourself translation project. The terms used are in the /include/lang folder. You need to copy the english.php to indonesian.php, then translate the english terms in $PHORUM["DATA"]["LANG"]=array( to their Indonesian counterpoints (these are the phrases on the right hand side of the arrows). Some modules also have language files which also would need to be translated in a similar manner.

Attached I send you my translation of the language file to my mothers tongue: Swedish.
The translation, saved UTF-8 , is complete and works very well! The file is tested in Phorum 5.2.16
When you have used the module "Custom Language Database (version 5.2.1.01) " you can use my file from the directory
Phorum/include/lang/ with the default file: english.php in the same directory.

Dear Sirs,
Assume I am a mere user, not even logged in either.
With MediaWiki, I can add &uselang=en to make much of the boilerplate of
a page into English. Compare
[radioscanningtw.jidanni.org]
[radioscanningtw.jidanni.org]

OK, what do I do to e.g.,
[www.bdsm.com.tw]
to get the same effect?
Note I don't expect actual content to become English, just the boilerplate.

This file (shqip.php) is not yet completed, but it is probably 98% done and 99.9% of the stuff that really matters.

I have not used the special characters (ë and ç) which means the translation is not as proper and is perhaps ambiguous in certain rare circumstances, but it's certainly usable.

I have it set up for UTF-8, but it could be used in other character sets currently since the special characters are not in use.

Здравствуйте!!! На днях познакомился с движком "Phorum" и влюбился сразу. Но корректного русского перевода не нашёл. Поэтому выкладываю свой. Интерфейс форума переведён полностью. Админка английская. Сейчас тестирую на возможные ошибки перевода.

На что хочу обратить внимание:

Для того, чтобы на заглавной странице корректно отображалось слова "новых" в количестве тем и сообщений и "новое" в метке новых сообщений, необходимо сделать следующие изменения:

1.Перейти в папку с вашим текущим шаблоном.
2.Найти там файлы с названиями index_classic.tpl и index_new.tpl
3.Найти в них все выражения newflag и 3аменить на new_flag

Перевод находится в стадии активного тестирования.

Выявленные ошибки и замечания можно отправить на ruur@ngs.ru или сообщать в этой ветке форума.

Here is the Slovak translation of v.5.2.9a.
However, there is a gramar problem in some plural expressions. In almost all of eastern (Slavian) languages there is a special rule for singular and plurals.

1 day = singular (this is OK)
2,3,4 days = plural_1 (this is also OK)
but
5+ days = plural_2 (this is missing

It would be nice to extend these definitions in all occurencies to the expression would correspond with local gramar rules.

This can be made by setting expression in language files and additional conditioins in other scritps e.g.:

if "something" = 1 -> "somethuing_singular"
if "something">1 and "something:<5 -> "something_plural_1"
if "something">5 and "s -> "something_plural_2" // would be used the same expression like "something_plural_1"

E.g. (Slovak):

1 year, month, day, user etc. = 1 rok, mesiac, deň, užívateľ, etc.
2,3,4 years, months, days, users = 2 roky, mesiace, dni, užívatelia, etc.
...
5+ years, months, days, users = 5 rokov, mesiacov, dní, užívateľov etc.

The translation is not complete yet, but quite fair to use.

Currently I can't recommend using the language file uploaded by Taygoo. It renderes the admin page blank because of a header problem. Also the double quotes should have been left alone, besides from making it very difficult to create a clear diff (in order to compare the grammar etc.), it also changes the way the original language file looks like.

I have made a small update today. I discovered the missing word "again".

I have translated the language file into danish from the original english file.

The danish language file is in UTF-8 format.

In case you edit the file, you must open and save it in UTF-8.

Any suggestions for better word usage, please let me know.

This is a complete Finnish translation for UTF-8. It is based on an old Phorum 3 translation downloaded from here a few years ago. Even though it is complete it might not be very fluent and some translations might be out of context because it has been only used in a forum that doesn't take advantage of many of Phorum's features. Anyway it should work well as a base for improvement.
