Localhost

I Maintaied a drift boat building phorum for close to a decade. Then I got long COVID and shut it down for two years.

I sell boat blueprint downloads, mostly as a hobby. The lack of a support forum dropped my gross (hobby) sales from four thousand dollars a year to near zero. After two and a half years as a mysqldump I'm trying to bring it back.

I have the nearly three year old phorum showing, but many machine generated navigation links make use or the string 'localhost'' as well as image links inside phorum_messsges that were parts of image upload posts created by forum users.

None of those links now resolve. Is there some sort a redirection-mechanism I'm not aware of?

Thank you. Yes I know what localhost means. A server-side config file could be used to convert that string (localhost) to a real domain and then IP address--on the fly.

Something like that must have been going on 3 years ago when this mysqldump was a live phorum--that worked then. Sans dead links.

I think the answers above give mge what I need. Thank you all. Yes I vaguely remember installing those plugins. What I have now is a fresh, adolescent install.

I can still fix things. COVID brain makes it a slower process.

Localhost is local storage. (the computer that runs php / phorum / mysql / and usually the web server software.
If you have photos or other uploaded files that are not stored in the database, but are stored on disk.
and you are using

Quote

* Store Files on Disk:
This module takes care of storing file data (attachments, personal user files) on disk instead of using the database as the file storage.
Author: Thomas Seifert and Maurice Makaay
Version: 1.1.1

You may also need to allow linking to files depending on your setup.
In the Admin "General Settings"
"Allow Linking To Uploaded Files"
Help popup.

Quote

Allow Off Site Links
You may not want to allow other web sites to link to files that users have uploaded to your forums. If not, then set this option to "Only from the forum". If you want to use links on other parts of your web site, then use "From this web site". If you want to allow other websites to link to your forum file uploads, then select "From any web site".

If your needs are more specific than this (e.g. if you want to allow access from a specific group of web sites), you will need to use your web server's security features to accomplish this. Apache users can reference Prevent "Image Theft" at [httpd.apache.org].

----> From memory
Then/Also you must have the correct time zone set...
