english.php is what I was loking for. I tried to add a logo in header.tpl but it kinda screwed up the whole page. The page came out unformatted without any colors, just white and text in blue or black..... But i'll try again. Thank you.

I don't know what you really mean.
You can change all texts in the language file. Default is include/lang/english.php.
And you can add anything you like in the templates, e.g. in header.tpl.

Where do I add to or modify the message "Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum" in posting.php?
Also is it possible to insert a logo in index.php next to the Phorum Title, above the Phorum Description as edited in General Settings?

Sorry for not being more specific - just thought the answer may be straight forward in that I did something wrong. And Joe you were quite correct - a hard refresh did it :) I got real worried there. Would it not be better to force the browser to not cache the template settings?

oh and as we are in the 5.1-forums. inheritance had some bugs in 5.1 AFAIK but got far better in 5.2.

You should also try a hard refresh (CTRL-F5 or SHIFT-F5 depending on browser) as the browser may try to cache your old template settings.

how about telling us WHAT the difference in the look is or show us a url to check it out.

default settings are only used for new forums and if a forum is set to inherit from these settings.

I have inherited the settings for a forum from another forum, but there is a difference in the look between the two. How is that possible? I made changes to the template, but it shouldn't matter whether I select to inherit the template, or if I go the cutomize way (choosing the same template in any case)

And how does this all relate to the default template setting?

no 5.1 template will work with 5.2 and its surely quite some effort to port them to 5.2.

These would be nice to use if at all possible.

I keep getting an error: Phorum Template Error phorum_get_template() was called with an empty page name.
This might indicate a template problem.

I wonder what it would take to get a couple of the templates in the archive updated for 5.2.x

Thanks! That fixed it. Found the message background image. Took me awhile to figure out how to change the color, I don't have a tool for this, and it's been years since I've done anything with images, but finally found an online image maker. I make a new image in the new color and converted the image to png, since the image maker only made gifs and jpgs.

I have changed the background in the Emerald Template from white to light brown color, #FEE9D3, in the settings.tpl. But, in the messages a band of white background shows up, about an inch and a half high. It also shows up at the bottom of the forum in the Global Statistics Section.

I have gone over and over the changes below, but cannot see where I may have missed something -- or, if I have to make a change somewhere else. Can you tell me how I can fix this? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have to make some changes in the templates of the website. I have not used phorum before so cannot do those myself. These changes are not huge changes, just moving things around and tidy up the pages.

why? we don't remove older modules.
so they are still available, just check the correct forum.

Most of the recommended modules: "user_avatar, onlineusers, lastforumposts, userrank, forumstats" no longer available for version 5.1

All the statistic fields such as "Newest registered user", "Total number of registered users" are blank. What am I missing for the configuration?

Yes, that looks like what you need, asuming that your template directory is actually called "yourtemplate", since that's the name that you used in the example. What you can also do is take a look at the generated page source and see what image path is shown in there. There you can look if the id field was put in there like expected.

BTW: I see one possible problem here.It should be {FORUMS->forum_id} instead of {FORUMS->id}. I'll change that in my original posting as well.

i'm now on 5.2 with emerald (with a blue colour scheme), it's easy on the eye and my users are very happy

but without Martha i would not have used Phorum at all and would have missed out on a great solution to my problem.

Sorry, I haven't made it to 5.2. If anyone likes the template and takes it under his wings that would be great.
