Orange on Olive Phorum Template
Version: 0.1
Author(s): James Revillini
Date: Feb 2008
License: Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 United States [creativecommons.org]
Fonts used: Calibri, Arial, Silkscreen (get silkscreen here: [www.kottke.org])
Photoshop Version: CS3
Notes: The psd files are provided to allow you to modify the header graphics as well as to encourage you to use this as a jumping point for creating more templates for phorum. You WILL need to edit the PSD file and change the header graphics to fit your site, then export them as PNGs. If that didn't make sense, you're going to need assistance with modifying those files, and I may not have time to support you in doing that, so find a buddy who knows photoshop. I did not modify the template for index_classic. PM probably works but has not been styled yet. For these reasons, this template is probably not ready for production use and if you use the classic forum template, this version is not for you. i will have that done for version 0.2, due in mid-march.
Installation: just upload the templates and mods folders to your forum installation directory. it will now be visible in the admin area on the Forum Settings page.
Bugs: report bugs to my e-mail address or to this thread. A picture is worth a thousand words (read: send a screenshot of the problem).
changelog:
2008-02-17 - VERSION 0.1
Peace,
James

Man, that is nice. We need more templates from people with talent. I am just a coding hack that lucked into a decent look in emerald.

Thanks, buddy! I'm working on the next one: a port of organic! which is a template for vanilla which ALMOST made me go with vanilla. The deal breaker was that I came across phorum and found that its support forum had answers to questions. hehe.
Peace,
James

I installed the template and find it is a good start. But 1 or 2 suggestions. There is no waay to reach the control center in this template. A link is required in the index page. Also if you can add admin.php link (which is displayes only for admin), it will look good. {forum title} displayed even while it is updated in the admin.

Good suggestions. I think you can reach the control center by clicking on the username after logging in.
As for the admin link, I personally prefer not to have admin links on the public pages of the site. I always navigate to my administration areas with bookmarks. But I'll put it in at some point when I'm working on this template again.
Thanks for testing!

Another suggestion is regarding the background. It can have a less intrusive design. It distarcts reading the topics.
Well, I have to disagree with you there - I don't feel distracted.
I probably will not make the background of this template less bold, as that is the essence of this template. If I changed the background, I feel I would be creating a different template.
But I do appreciate your suggestions! Perhaps some day I will fork another template project off of this one and make it less vivid.
Thanks again!
Peace,
James
