HELP! phorum stopped working

can anyone help please? i installed phorum on a site a while ago and it has been working brilliantly -- very popular too. i have just got this message when i tried to access it:

"Something is wrong. You need to edit common.php and select a database."

i have no idea why this has suddenly happened and have no idea how to fix it.

any help would be massively appreciated

what phorum-version is this?
I don't see this code in the current phorum-3.4.8a.

it is phorum 3.3.2c. i managed to resolve the problem by re-uploading the admin files. not sure why that worked. should i upgrade to 3.4.8?
