Module: BB Code Video June 13, 2007 07:21AM |

This module allows embedding of videos in forum messages by using [video]...[/video] bbcode tags. The currently supported video services are:
* YouTube
* Google
* Vimeo
Here is an example of how a video link would look in a message:
[video]http://www.youtube.com/v/abcDeFgHiJ1[/video]
The module does recognize multiple types of URLs. So users do not have to (and will not, in my experience ;-) post the actual video resource URL as in the above example, but they can post URLs like these too:
[video]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkFPbIEluEU&mode=related&search=[/video]
[video]http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1234567890123456789[/video]
The module can be told to automatically replace recognized plain video URLs with embedded videos. This is a special feature, which can be enabled through the module settings screen. If you enable this feature then plain video URLs and [ surrounded video URLs will be replaced by embedded videos too. Examples (spaces added to bypass the bbcode handling on this forum):____http ]

I removed the <object> tag from the embedding code for the movies, because that can cause some weird conflicts with MSIE browsers in combination with JavaScript code ("Operation aborted" errors). I've seen conflicts with the Slimbox script (mootools based lightbox, used in the "In Body Attachments" module as well) on my site, but there are other scripts which show the same problem, judging the number of reports about the problem on the net.
Since <embed> seems to work for all browsers that I tested, I stick to that for now and leave the <object> code for the future.
The new 1.0.3 version is uploaded to the start message of this thread.

It would really help if you'd post the actual youtube link or [video] bbcode. Without that it is hard to guess what would be the problem.

I tried it own my own site and there it worked perfectly. maybe this has something to do with the order in which modules are run. I run 5.2 development code myself and in 5.2, the bbcode module will always run as the last module. In your case, the video bbcode module might run after the bbcode module.
Try the module from this thread. The make_bbcode_last_formatter.php file has to be saved in the mods folder. After that, you can enable the module in the admin interface. If the problem that you run into has to do with module ordering (I'm 99% sure about that), then this will fix it.

That one is on my list. I kind of forgot about it, because I just enabled the option to make any video URL for Google or YouTube render as a in line movie. I'll try to remember this one for the next time I have time to hack a bit ;-)

I just released version 1.0.4 of the module. This version adds support for [www.vimeo.com] movie links.
