Is there anything that the Phorum 5.3 R&D department could learn from reddit's (www.reddit.com) open source "hotness" algorithm? In my opinion, it'd be an attractive feature particularly for very active Phorums.

Go ahead and implement it as a module and provide it back to the community.

korsakov, do you have a link to the algorithm? I poked around in their code a bit, but it is buried in there somewhere.

Here is the Algorithm

Build a Popularity Algorithm (referring to Reddit):

Interesting discussion on Ycombinator

It'd be great to introduce a ranking mechanism to Phorum. Thank you for considering it!

Reddit's algorithm is more of a sorting algorithm. Not so much a quality algorithm. Still interesting. I actually went hunting and found a couple of more interesting ones out there.

Whatever algorithm you will choose, I'll be excited to see it implemented. It'll be great!
