Moving Phorum from one machine to another

Hello all,

Not sure whether if this has been discussed before. I used the keyword "migrate" but most the search results are talking about version upgrade.

For me, I host Phorum in an Intranet Linux machine. I was to port it over to another machine with a larger disk space and better processor. I worry about crashing the website while doing so. Can someone point me to resources to help me with this shift?

Thanks very much

The basic scheme for this is very simple:

- move the software
- move the database (best done with dumping and restoring it)

There' should be much more to it than this.
You can fully test the move a couple of times, before doing it live, if you are longing for some confidence for the upgrade. If you are testing Phorum on a different temporary URL when doing this, make sure to update the HTTP Path settings in the Phorum General Settings to point to the temporary test URL.
